The things we do for love

I'm in a semi-comatose state right now because I just spent 12 hours lifting-hauling-dragging-sorting-moving-arranging stuff for my son's preschool's garage sale.  And I'm about to go do it again today!  And then the actual sale happens on Saturday.  Bring it on (she says while yawning)!

So, my post today is just about what we do for what we love.  This really applies for both the people we love and the things we love doing.  We work ourselves silly.  We try to fit everything into our day.  We push ourselves out of our comfort zones.  We sacrifice.  We put our hearts on the line.  We are vulnerable.  And we often do it with a smile on our faces.  Or we should.

Just something to think about today.  Are some of the hard parts of your life because you are doing something for someone or something you love?  Doesn't that make it a little easier to take?

  1. I really don't think I'm making any sacrifices for the ones I love. Yep, I don't have a "career" because my old one (drug rep) was impossible with three children (who always got sick during the once a year appointment with the all important physician) and a husband who travels (and I traveled A LOT for my job). But I was happy to leave my job because of my children and now I'm working on my writing career. The "sacrifice" was definitely worth it. :)

  2. That's so so true Megan - the things we do for loved ones. But I suppose we are happy doing them, especially when we see how they made a difference to our loved ones' lives.

Btw I'm sorry to have left you out in the Crusaders' list, but I've corrected that - Stay-at-Home Mum is there now!

  3. I've done things for loved ones that have cause me extra stress. I was working two jobs to make more money. I never got any sleep and was always exhausted. Doing it for someone I loved made it a little easier, but it still sucked.

  4. Hmmm... doing that sort of thing now, but it can never make up for the times when I should have done and didn't..

  5. It only makes it easier in the long run if I truly believe what I'm doing is making someone happy or helping them. If I go unacknowledge in the form of something like a thank you, for way too long then I start to feel the exhaustion set it and I slow down. This is a good thought to go through the day with. I think you're doing a great job with the preschool. Hang in there. Once the exhaustion wears off the benefits of helping out really set in.
