Getting Things Done

During the holidays it is so difficult to get things done!  I am in a constant swirl of shopping, planning, running errands, brainstorming present ideas, keeping the kids occupied, going to special events, trying to make the holidays memorable and fun for the kids, remembering choir practices/party dates/to get the giving tree presents to church on the right day, and on and on and on.

So, where can I find time to get any writing stuff done?  I found this quote the other day and it inspired me...

"There are three ways to get something done:  do it yourself, hire someone, or forbid your kids to do it." -Monta Crane

Now, I can't forbid my kids to do my writing and have them do it for me, but I can be inspired by the mischief that seems to come along with the excess energy and excitement of the season for my kids.  A kid waiting for Christmas is like a cat on catnip...insane!  So let the insanity roll and I'll get my notebook!

  1. I like the "forbid your kids to do it". Good plan. :) Are you sure you don't want to tell them to NOT come up with the best book ever?

  2. ha ha maybe I should forbid my 2y/o son to do my blog post one day, last time I did that he installed 3 different kinds of Malware on my laptop, Microsoft security had to pop up in alarm and he aligned my computer horizontally

  3. "Do it yourself, hire someone, or forbid your kids to do it." So basically the first one 'do it yourself' is the same as the last one 'forbid your kids to do it,' right? Because forbid means to not let them do it, right? Because if I let my kids do things, I'll just have to do it all over again, anyway. But on the other hand, if you want to hire your kids to do whatever, then we better make sure they can do it right, right?

I do so love that you are going to grab a notebook and record all the insanity. That's a great way to get more ideas!

  4. I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm not going to get much writing done over the holidays, though I'm hoping to finish my first draft. :D
