Here's to Health

It has been a long winter.  A winter of sniffling, sneezing, headachy, sore throat, runny nose madness.  In my family, it has also been a winter punctuated by death in the family, the serious illness of friends and children of friends, and even the death of a friend's child.

The old phrase, "at least you have your health" has never meant more to me.  To be healthy (or even moderately so) is a luxury.  It allows us to get on with the other business of living and growing.  Each spring and fall I slip into a fog of allergies.  But this year, even though the pollen counts are through the roof, I simply don't mind as much.  I'm not going to let them stop me from getting out, having fun, and living life.

So my words of encouragement for to today are simply this: Enjoy your health when you have it.  And hug your kids a little tighter today and be thankful for their health too.  If you aren't healthy, or are struggling with the illness/injury of a loved one, hold on.  You aren't alone.  *Hugs*

  2. Having spent all day in the hospital with my mother-in-law yesterday, and going back today, I have to say there's nothing like being in a hospital to make you really appreciate not being in one. I am grateful every day for the health of my family, and hope we will be fortunate enough to have our time in hospitals limited to the birth of new family members!

  3. *Hugs* to you Megan, that all sounds tough. With my parents here from England I'm grateful they can still fly and spend time with us and will cherish each moment.

  4. So sorry you've had a rough winter. When my migraines get bad, I am so thankful that I have such good kids - kids who listen when I tell them Mommy needs some quiet, kids who help, kids who can entertain themselves for a little while. I hope Spring brings you health and happiness despite your allergies and the sadness of the winter.

  5. Really good reminders, Megan. It is easy to take our loved ones for granted, easy to forget that life is temporary, that our plans can change in an instant. I'm sorry your winter has been bleak. I hope spring and summer are times of restoration and renewed health.
